‘Sketches of School’ – Segar’s House Play

Take a group of enthusiastic and energetic boys, a few members of staff and the constraints of a busy school timetable and mix together thoroughly – the resulting play, performed on Wednesday for parents and friends, was an entertaining evening of drama with extracts from Another Country, South Downs and Coram Boy skilfully interwoven to create a cohesive whole.  The boys (many of whom had never been on stage before) created the set, directed the show, managed the lighting and sound and played their parts both on and off stage with panache leaving the audience in no doubt that whether you were at school in the sixteenth century or in the present day, growing up presents its own problems.  This was an ambitious project for a boarding house, but boys across all the year groups put in some hard work (and had a lot of fun along the way) to make it a resounding success. The event raised over £2,000 towards the School charity Restore.
