The U14A XI came second in the group stage of the Regional Hockey Tournament and have progressed to the Regional semi-final. Their coach, Rachel Bellamy, runs through the action:

After a particularly early start, the girls arrived at for the tournament venue, Hurstpierpoint College in Sussex. The girls adapted well after the long journey and got off to a good start in their first match against Godolphin and Latymer, with Izzy Hall opening the scoring with a good finish. The opposition dominated the second half, and after equalising put Teddies under a lot of pressure with Goalkeeper Ruby Freeland making many great saves. A breakaway goal in the last minute scored brilliantly by Lila Howard ensured that Teddies started the tournament with a victory.

Cranleigh were the next opponents and, apart from the first few minutes, Teddies played well despite losing the match against the eventual group winners. Teddies then faced Lord Wandsworth College in a must win game; the U14A XI were up for the challenge and won 2-0, with more goals from Lila and Izzy.

This meant that Teddies qualified for the Regional Semi-Final with two wins, despite still having a game to go against tournament hosts Hurstpierpoint. In the final match, which was a dead rubber for both teams, Hurst went on to win 4-2. Captain Anna West scored from a short corner and Isabel Llabres Diaz scored her first goal for the U14A team.

Well done to all of the girls for their impressive performance. We look forward to playing St George’s in the Regional Semi-Finals.
